Upgraded Foton Tunland pickup truck

The Chinese company Foton Motor will introduce an upgraded version of one of its most popular models, the Tunland frame pickup, in April. The first photos of the updated "Chinese" appeared in the public domain.

Foton Tunland has undergone a comprehensive modernization. Outside, the pickup received a new front end design. The headlights have become smaller in size, the radiator grill, on the contrary, is much wider and higher. Daytime running lights and "foglights" are now made on LEDs. Changed bumper plastic and air intake configuration. Interestingly, the hood and front fender panels remained the same, their Foton engineers decided not to touch them in order to save money.

Inside, there is a completely new front panel with a more modern design and improved ergonomics. Among the fundamental innovations are a multimedia navigation system with a large touch screen, a multifunctional steering wheel, and a rear-view camera. All these luxuries for the current Tunland are not offered even for an additional fee.

After restyling, a long-wheelbase version of the Foton Tunland should appear. If a standard pickup truck has an axle distance of 3105 mm, then an elongated one will have 3398 mm. The entire increase is in favor of the cargo platform. The model has a two-row four-door cab by default (there is also a modification with a single-row cab, but it is sold only in some markets).

The range of engines will remain unchanged. In China, Foton Tunland is offered with a 2.4 petrol engine (Mitsubishi) or a 2.8 turbodiesel (Cummins). The first unit develops 136 hp, the second - 163 hp. Both engines are combined only with the 5-speed "mechanics" Getrag. The chassis can be rear-wheel drive or with all-wheel drive (in this case, the car is equipped with a BorgWarner transfer case).
