The Chinese company Foton Motor held a preview of a new model - a full-size frame pickup truck. The name of the promising car has not yet been disclosed, it was demonstrated under the laconic slogan Just Pickup, that is, “Just a pickup”.
The machine has a four-door double-row cab and is based on a new generation Foton frame platform. In terms of design, the model has something in common with American counterparts - in particular, in the design of the front end and the plastic of the body panels, one can find similarities with the Ram 1500. At the same time, Foton developed its own model on its own, there is no technical relationship with the Ram.
Also, the new Chinese car boasts luggage rails on the roof and handrails in the cargo compartment.
Foton will begin production of the model in 2023, it will be equipped with a hybrid system, made up of a 2.5-liter turbodiesel (we believe that this is a 150-horsepower JE4D25Q6A engine from Foton Tunland G9), a robotic gearbox and a 48-volt starter-alternator. A "mild hybrid" with a diesel internal combustion engine is a rather rare phenomenon not only in China, but also in the world. Installation power - 367 hp, torque - 450 Nm. The drive is complete.
The standard equipment of the new Foton pickup truck will include adaptive cruise control, semi-autopilot, automatic emergency braking, lane control, traffic sign and traffic light recognition.
