FIAT released an unusual commercial for its second-generation Strada light pickup truck, for which it "resurrected" the legendary American king of rock and roll Elvis Presley, who died back in 1977. Recall that the Strada is a pickup truck with a monocoque body, which is produced in Brazil and sold in Latin America.
The two-minute promotional film was titled "Legend". It begins with Elvis entering the stage and singing the song Blue Suede Shoes fr om his debut album (by the way, American singer Carl Perkins performed it before him), after which a FIAT Strada pickup literally bursts into the hall. Elvis leaves the stage, gets into the car and leaves in it. On the way, he meets his imitators, goes to the martial arts hall, wh ere he shows several fighting techniques. At the same time, a wooden box is being loaded into a pickup truck, and Elvis first leaves in a pickup truck for the desert, drives past the set, after which he hits the dance floor, breaks the box in which his granite copy is located, and “knocks out” the neon inscription Nova Fiat Strada with an arrow (new Fiat Strada).
The king of rock and roll was played by Dean Z, his counterpart from Missouri, USA. In 2013, he won a look-alike contest organized by the Presley family.
Strada is a compact unibody pickup truck. Its length is only 4480 mm. According to FIAT employees, this is the most compact five-seat pickup truck in the world with four doors.
The novelty is also presented in a version with a two-door cab. In this case, the Strada is reminiscent of Holden pickup trucks for Australia. However, despite its diminutiveness, the car is able to carry an enduro class motorcycle. Load capacity - 720 kg with a single-row cab and 650 kg with a double-row.
Under the hood are only compact atmospheric engines with very low power. The base engine of the Fire series with a volume of 1.4 liters produces 88 hp, a more productive 110-horsepower “four” Firefly is offered for a surcharge. The gearbox is non-alternative - 5-speed manual.
The premiere of the second generation FIAT Strada took place in April this year, but the start of its production was postponed due to the Covid-19 epidemic. FIAT dealers in Latin America are already collecting orders for the model, although its "live" sales have not yet begun.
