Fiat finalizes 500L compact MPV for surfers

Fiat

Fiat has unveiled a concept car designed to appeal to surfers and other water sports enthusiasts. The car was shown to the public at the thematic exhibition "Vans US Open of Surfing", held on one of the beaches of California.

The Italians took the 500L compact van as the basis for the concept, adding distinctive features to its exterior and interior. The latter include a radiator grille in the form of four round holes, with all circles additionally representing LED running lights. When painting the body, several colors were used: white, light blue and dark blue. The checkerboard-style design of the roof is meant to recall Vans, a popular footwear and sportswear manufacturer among surfers. There is a roof rack for carrying two boards and other surf accessories. In the cabin, Vans logo decals on the instrument panel, special coating on the pedals and trunk floor, as well as seat trim in the same material that is used to manufacture Vans shoes, attract attention.

Despite the non-standard design, the technical part of the concept car remained the same as the standard Fiat 500L for the North American market. The engine of the car is a 1.4-liter turbocharged MultiAir (160 hp), the gearbox is a 6-speed manual.
