In China, the FAW Bestune B70 sedan has finally been declassified. The main surprise was that this is not a sedan at all. And now it's Bestune, not Besturn: the series changed its name in 2018.
The last FAW Besturn B70 did not stand out for its bright appearance. Now the manufacturer has decided to apply a completely new style. Thanks to a more sloping roof, the silhouette has become more dynamic. A small hump on the hood is designed to create a feeling of sportiness.
Due to the teardrop-shaped vertical processes of the headlights and lanterns, the novelty is slightly reminiscent of modern Cadillacs. At the same time, there is no question of blind copying: the appearance is quite original. The rear L-shaped lights are connected by an LED strip. On the trunk lid you can see the logo of the manufacturer. The car is fitted with 19-inch light-alloy wheels with thin spokes.
The polygonal front grille received 74 vertical chrome inserts designed to resemble rain. Other visual highlights include Tesla-style hidden door handles and a large sunroof.
Relative to its predecessor, the novelty is noticeably larger. Length - up to 4810 mm, width - up to 1840 mm. The wheelbase is 2800 mm. Thus, this is a D-class sedan. In terms of dimensions, the novelty is located between the Skoda Octavia and Superb. Comparison with Czech models is relevant, since they are also liftbacks - yes, the Bestune B70 has ceased to be a sedan.
FAW Bestune B70 abandoned the platform of the old Mazda 6: the previous two generations were built on the basis of the Japanese model. In particular, the first Besturn B70 (2006-2014) used the basis of the first generation Mazda 6 (2002-2008). Such a sedan was officially supplied to Russia for several years. The second Besturn B70 (2014-2020) switched to the second-generation Mazda 6 platform (2007-2012) and was no longer presented in our country.
The new FAW Bestune B70 is based on its own FMA architecture.
So far, the manufacturer does not reveal the interior and does not publish full technical specifications. It is expected that the liftback will be equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 169 hp. It will be aggregated with "mechanics" or "robot".
Prices and sales start date will be announced later.
