Dump of luxury cars for dignitaries found in China

FAW

Nearly two dozen abandoned cars, video footage with such a find was published by a Chinese blogger on TikTok. The video was filmed on the premises of the FAW Hongqi (pronounced "Hongqi") factory.

All of the cars abandoned in the open are Hongqi L5 luxury sedans, designed to transport dignitaries of the Chinese Communist Party. This model was also available to ordinary citizens at a price of 5 million yuan. But 19 cars in the video are not serial, but test ones, some of them still have a camouflage film.

The cars were abandoned after a series of tests and have been rusting on the street for about 10 years.

Hongqi L5 is a rare car with a rather unusual appearance, the “muzzle” of which vaguely resembles the GAZ-21 due to the characteristic round headlights. Its length is 5555 mm, width - 2018 mm, height - 1578 mm, and wheelbase - 3435 mm. The L5 is equipped with a 6-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine producing 408 hp.

In total, about 500 of these machines rolled off the assembly line. Currently L5 is not represented in dealerships in China.
