In China, sales of a full-size electric crossover began under the most luxurious national auto brand HongQi (Huntsy). The machine is called HongQi E-HS9 and is manufactured by FAW. Recall that the novelty was first introduced in July 2020, this is the flagship of an actively expanding line of SUVs under the HongQi brand.
The E-HS9 has a finely crafted and memorable exterior. Futuristic solutions (retractable handles, "clean" sidewalls, LED optics) are combined here with classic proportions - a long nose and a cabin shifted back. The appearance of the car largely repeats the concept car HongQi E115, presented in 2019. The style of both the production car and the show car was created under the direction of Gilles Taylor, a former chief designer of Rolls-Royce Cars, who was poached by FAW in 2018.
The length, width and height of the HongQi E-HS9 are 5290, 2010 and 1731 mm respectively, the wheelbase is 3110 mm.
In the cabin of the E-HS9 there are natural high-quality finishing materials (leather, fine wood, polished aluminum) and three huge LCD displays (instrument cluster, multimedia, microclimate).
The SUV is equipped with two electric motors - one per axle. The drive of the car is complete. The front one develops 160 kW of power (218 hp), the rear - 245 kW (333 hp). The engines are powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 92.4 kWh, the power reserve on a single charge reaches 500 km. The electric SUV accelerates from standstill to 100 km / h in just 4 seconds, there are 7 preset chassis settings for the driver to choose from.
HongQi E-HS9 is offered in four fixed configurations with prices ranging from 509,800 to 729,800 yuan.
In the hierarchy of Chinese national auto brands, HongQi is at the very top, its status is comparable to ZIL cars in the USSR. The brand traces its history back to the 1950s, under it representative sedans are produced for the needs of members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the country. Since 2018, FAW has been pursuing a course to commercialize the brand - under it they will produce a wide range of prestigious cars of various classes, created primarily for the consumer market, and not for government orders.
