Ford F-150 Raptor vs. Ram 1500 TRX: drag battle of the most powerful pickups on the planet

Dodge

Ford F-150 Raptor for many years was considered the fastest pickup on the planet. However, there have been quite a few formidable contenders lately, with some of them getting far more power than the Raptor. Take the Ram 1500 TRX, for example, with its 712-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8. Now the American channel The Fast Lane Truck decided to compare these mastodons and determine the most nimble of them.

In fact, the chances of the Raptor in a direct fight with the Ram 1500 TRX are not that few - they are not at all. Judge for yourself: what can oppose a 3.5-liter biturbo V6 to a 6.2-liter V8 with a compressor? The difference in power-to-weight ratio is staggering: 456 hp. and 691 Nm against 715 hp and 880 Nm.

In fairness, we note that the Raptor also has strengths. Firstly, it is noticeably lighter (2584 kg versus 3114 kg for versions with a two-row SuperCrew cab). Secondly, he has a more recent "automatic" with ten gears compared to Ram's eight.

However, this does not allow to win back more than one and a half times the difference in power. According to official data, the Ram 1500 TRX takes 4.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 96 km / h (60 mph) (US publications actually intended 3.7 seconds), while Ford needs more than 5.

The Ram 1500 TRX easily outpaced the Ford F-150 Raptor in all races. On the other hand, Ford never positioned his car for drag racing. The Raptor was originally a powerful off-road extreme pickup truck, and speed on the highway faded into the background.

The Fast Lane Truck video also features other pickup trucks, including the Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss with a 360-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 and the Ram 1500 Rebel with a more powerful 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that produces 400 hp. The cars performed according to their recoil: the Ram 1500 Rebel was faster. He also lost to the more power-armed Ford F-150 Raptor.
