Dodge

Dodge held the world premiere of a fundamentally new model - the Hornet compact crossover. This car is not built fr om scratch, it is a slightly refurbished version of Alfa Romeo Tonale, which has been in production for several months. Recall that both Alfa Romeo and Dodge are components of a single holding Stellantis.

The body of the novelty is almost completely unified with the Tonale, only the plumage, block headlights, lanterns and some other minor details are original in the Hornet.

The target market for the Dodge is North American, wh ere it will be offered in two versions, denoted by the prefixes GT and R / T.

The GT is equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol turbo engine with 265 hp. and a torque of 400 Nm. It is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The R/T is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system that includes a 1.3-liter petrol turbo, an electric motor, a 6-speed automatic, a 15.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and a starter-alternator. The internal combustion engine drives the front axle, the electric motor drives the rear. The total return of the system is 285 hp. and 519 Nm. On pure electric traction, the car can travel up to 56 km.

The Hornet R/T also has a PowerShot mode that allows you to add an extra 25 hp. power, however, for a period of not more than 15 seconds. This feature will be useful when overtaking on the track. The 0-60 mph (96 km/h) acceleration time is 6.1 seconds in normal condition and 5.1 seconds in PowerShot mode.

Both powerplants are taken from the Tonale arsenal, although Alfa Romeo does not have a PowerShot mode.

The chassis of the Hornet R/T has been improved compared to the standard version of the model, with Koni FSD sports shock absorbers and reinforced Brembo brakes with four-piston calipers.

Inside, there is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.3-inch media system screen.

Orders for the Dodge Hornet in the US will begin to accept in the fall.
