Dodge Viper to be removed from assembly line due to curtain airbags

Dodge

The legendary American sports car Dodge Viper (SRT Viper) is expected to be phased out soon - this became known at the end of 2015. Now there is information about what exactly caused this decision.

The Viper cannot be brought into compliance with federal safety regulations requiring the vehicle to be equipped with side curtain airbags. The reason for this is the limited space in the cabin of a sports car - if the required equipment is still installed, then there will be almost no room left for the head of the driver and passengers.

It is noted that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which produces the Viper, does not exclude the development of a completely new generation of the model in the future, but the current version of the car will not change to comply with the rules.

We add that the original Viper of the early 1990s did not have not only any airbags and air conditioning, but even ABS and Traction Control systems. The car had an eight-liter 400-horsepower V10 engine, which, most likely, will not appear on the next generation of the sports car.
