Dodge updates Charger and Challenger models

Dodge

In New York, the premiere of updated versions of the Dodge Charger sedan and Dodge Challenger coupe took place.

The sedan received significant changes in the exterior - representatives of the brand claim that almost all body panels have undergone modernization. The most noticeable changes took place in the front and rear parts of the car: Dodge revised the shape of all optics and bumpers.

The sedan is offered with one of two engines to choose from: the base 3.6-liter V6 with a return of 292 hp. (350 Nm) or a 5.7-liter V8 developing 370 hp. (535 Nm) and having the function of deactivating half of the cylinders.

Both motors are paired with an upgraded eight-speed TorqueFlight “automatic” – switching now takes 250 ms instead of 400 ms on the previous version of the sedan. Some Charger trims are equipped with all-wheel drive.

The Charger's dashboard now features a 7-inch display, complementing the 8.4-inch screen located on the sedan's center console. The car also received a new steering wheel and automatic transmission selector handle, which became electronic after the update.

The Dodge Challenger coupe has not undergone such significant changes in design as it happened with the Charger: the two-door Dodge received a new grille, headlights and taillights, as well as a different hood shape.

The Challenger is powered by the 3.6-liter and 5.7-liter engines listed above, as well as another unit previously offered only in the special SRT version - a 6.4-liter V8 that develops 485 hp. power and 650 Nm of torque.

The coupe comes with a six-speed manual as standard, with an eight-speed TorqueFlight automatic available as an option.

As part of the restyling, the Challenger was given the ability to customize the power steering, accelerator pedal and transmission modes - these functions are included in the Super Track Pak package.

Prices and sales start dates for the two facelifted Dodges in the US will be announced at a later date.

It is worth noting that the most powerful versions of the Charger and Challenger with the SRT index were not presented in New York. These cars are expected to receive a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 and will be shown at a later date.
