Dodge crosses classic and modern Challenger for SEMA tuning show

Dodge

Dodge brought to the SEMA tuning show in Las Vegas a concept car based on the 1971 Dodge Challenger.

The prototype, called the Challenger Shakedown, was built on a separate chassis with a swap body, although the original Challenger had a monocoque design.

The chassis was equipped with suspension and brakes from the modern Challenger Hellcat, as well as a 6.4-liter V8, which is paired with a 6-speed "mechanics" from Viper. The engine develops 485 hp. power.

The body was also modified - the door handles and repeaters on the sides were sealed, the design of the front and rear parts, along with lighting equipment, was changed to analogues from the modern Challenger. The interior of the car is also made of parts borrowed from modern models.

Other Fiat Chrysler concept cars at the show were the Jeep CJ66, Dodge Durango Shaker, Ram Macho Power Wagon, and the Chrysler Pacifica Cadence van.

The first of these cars, the Jeep CJ66, is a mixture of different Jeep models from previous years. The frame for the concept was taken from a 1997-2006 Wrangler, and the body was taken from a 1966 Jeep CJ. All this is complemented by various options from the catalog, in particular, Dana 44 axles, Jeep Rubicon bumpers, underbody protection, winch, compressor, off-road tires, roll cage and much more.

The Dodge Durango Shaker is an attempt to cross the popular SUV with the Challenger coupe. Durango received a 6.4-liter V8 engine, Viper seats, lowered suspension, 22-inch wheels and many decorative details similar to the Challenger.

Macho Power Wagon is a pickup very close to the production model of the same name, equipped with additional accessories. In particular, the car received special fasteners for transporting oversized cargo on the roof (the emphasis in the body can be moved back or forward), a suspension lift, a bumper with a winch and LED lights. Under the hood is the already well-known 6.4-liter V8.

The Chrysler Pacifica minivan serves as a showcase of accessories from the manufacturer's factory catalog: a roof rack, a dedicated pet compartment, wireless phone charging kits and a first aid kit.
