American industrial design studio Joey Ruiter Studio is developing a concept SUV based on the Dodge Challenger sports car, writes Autoblog.

The prototype is called the Challenger A / T Untamed and is still at the design stage. It is expected that the finished version of the car will receive a long-travel suspension designed from scratch and many other elements unique to the car, in particular, additional shields and welded tubular lining to protect the bottom and sills, as well as wheel arch extensions. There is no data on the selected type of drive yet.

According to preliminary information, the Challenger's chassis will undergo significant processing. A modified version of the 3.6-liter petrol V6 will be used as a power unit. The designers of the concept SUV considered fitting the Challenger Hellcat supercharged 707-horsepower V8 engine into the prototype, but concluded that the lighter engine was more suitable for their project so far.

It is assumed that the finished version of the car will also receive its own design of the inner part of the wheel arches, a redesigned exhaust system, additional safety features and many decorative details.

The studio behind the concept says the firm is considering producing a ready-made tuning package that would allow the Challenger A/T Untamed to be built based on other American muscle cars such as the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro.
