Alfa Romeo will abandon the Giorgio platform introduced in 2016, which became the basis for the Giulia (sedan) and Stelvio (crossover) models, as well as for the new generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, which premiered in January of this year. This was stated by the chief executive officer of the brand Jean-Philippe Imparato, writes the Motorauthority edition.

According to him, the refusal of the Giorgio platform is connected with the merger of Groupe PSA (Peugeot-Citroen) and FCA (FIAT-Chrysler) into the new Stellantis concern and the course towards electrification. According to Forbes, the new STLA "trolley" will be replicated in three varieties: Small, Medium and Large. The first will replace the current Small platform, the second - EMP2. Large is designed for future large models of the brand, as well as sister Maserati, created on its basis of electric vehicles will be able to travel up to 400 miles.

Alfa Romeo Giorgio platform, which provides for the installation of a Ferrari F154 2.9 V6 biturbo engine with a power of 512 hp. and all-wheel drive (for Giulia and Stelvio models in the Quadrifoglio modification), will in turn be modernized, in the future it will serve as the basis for Dodge and Jeep cars.

It should be noted that the plans of the Stellantis concern include the modernization of a plant in the Polish city of Tychy, after which it will begin production of hybrid and electric cars Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo.
