Unmanned vehicles, which are controlled automatically without human intervention, are not possible. This conclusion was made by Li Yongfei, a representative of BYD Auto, the world's largest manufacturer of electric vehicles, in an interview with the US news channel CNBC, which he gave on the sidelines of the Shanghai Auto Show.
“When we consider unmanned technology in all aspects (psychological need for safety, regulation, feasibility), we do not see a solution, and we believe that this is simply the wrong task. Many industries and companies can invest in this technology, and years of investment will prove to be a road to nowhere,” Yunfei said.
At the end of 2022, BYD sold about 1.9 million vehicles, most of them are plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles. The company's net income exceeded $2 billion last year.
