Chinese BYD began selling an electric car designed for taxis to everyone

BYD

The Chinese company BYD has ceased to restrict the sale of its D1 electric station wagon. Recall that this model was released in December 2020, and so far it has been purchased only by car sharing and taxi services. Now in China, such an electric car can be bought by any private person for personal use.

Since the D1 was originally created as a taxi car, the car's competitive advantage over most of its weight and size counterparts is its especially wide rear doorways and a large amount of usable space for passengers.

In the specification for the consumer market, even the sliding mechanism of the rear right door is retained (left - regular, hinged).

The length, width and height of the car are 4390, 1850 and 1650 mm respectively, the wheelbase is 2800 mm. The machine is equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 100 kW (136 hp) and a torque of 180 Nm, it is powered by a lithium-iron-phosphate battery with a capacity of 53.6 kWh, the cruising range on one full battery charge is 418 km. The front wheels are driving. From the fast charging station, you can replenish the battery range from 30 to 80% in just 35 minutes.

It is noted that the batteries are guaranteed for 8 years or 150 thousand km.

Top speed is limited at 130 km/h.

Salon five-seater, the floor in the rear is absolutely flat. The passenger seats have 25% softer padding than the driver's to improve comfort. The driver, on the contrary, needs a dense padding so as not to relax during an 8-12-hour working day. The upholstery is made of wear-resistant, easy-to-wash leatherette.

The machine is offered in a single configuration, which, among other things, includes a media system with a 10.1-inch screen.

The price of a car in China for individuals is 157,800 yuan
