Updated Buick LaCrosse will be released only in China

Buick

The Buick brand has long sold more cars in China than in its native States. So General Motors approaches Buick updates for China responsibly. Has it been more than three years since the premiere of the flagship LaCrosse sedan? Get a restyling!

The body shape has not undergone significant changes, but some parts have been updated. Now chrome-plated processes extend fr om the front grille to the sides, and the headlights are different here. Close in spirit are the metamorphoses at the stern: chromium has also been added here, and the lighting technology has changed shape. Buick LaCrosse also received new design wheels.

Final specifications are yet to be released at General Motors China, but GM Authority says the 2020 LaCrosse will be the brand's first vehicle to receive the eighth generation of Ecotec engines. We are talking about a 2.0-liter petrol turbo with a return of 241 hp. and 350 Nm. It will be aggregated by default with a 9-speed "automatic". Drive - front.

A little later, the sedan will receive more modest engines, including a 162-horsepower 1.3-liter internal combustion engine.

Looking at this elegant car, are you already jealous of the Chinese? Surprisingly, the Americans are also jealous: the updated LaCrosse does not shine for them. General Motors is about to close a factory in Michigan, wh ere this model is currently being assembled for the needs of the North American market. So only China will get the restyled version, and in their homeland, LaCrosse will “retire” altogether.

In China, the car will continue to be assembled at the SAIC-GM plant in Shanghai. With the demise of the Michigan assembly plant, it will remain the only factory in the world that produces the Buick LaCrosse.

Along with the Buick LaCrosse, sales of other GM models will cease in the United States: the Cadillac CT6 executive sedan, the Chevrolet Cruze compact family, and the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid. There will be no replacement for the models, with the exception of the Volt - a crossover should take its place in the product line in the future.
