Concern General Motors showed at the Beijing International Auto Show concept car Buick Electra with a futuristic design. It's a precursor to a production Buick electric coupe-crossover that will arrive within a couple of years and will only be made and sold in China.
The exterior of the car is characterized by a combination of sharp lines and intricately curved surfaces. The car does not have an average body pillar, all side doors open with a butterfly-wing mechanism. Inside, science fiction: a steering wheel instead of a steering wheel and a huge display that combines the instrument cluster, multimedia and all other functions.
The design of the Buick Electra was developed at the PATAC engineering center, a joint venture between GM and its longtime partner, the Chinese automaker SAIC. A team of specialists from China and the United States worked on the style of the concept car.
Nothing is said about the technical side of the sample. It is only claimed that it is equipped with an electric propulsion system. Most likely, this is just a mock-up demonstrator without aggregates.
Note that the very name Buick Electra is historical - that was the name of a family of full-size passenger cars that GM produced in six generations from 1959 to 1990.
