GM introduced two new Buicks in China: a production hybrid and a concept crossover

Buick

The American concern General Motors held a preliminary presentation of two new Buicks in China - the production version of the eco-friendly Velite 6 station wagon and the Enspire conceptual crossover. While the cars were shown only from the outside, a full-fledged premiere will take place at the end of April at the Beijing International Motor Show.

The Buick Velite 6 prototype was shown as a concept car in 2016, the production version of the station wagon presented today, in general, repeats the design of the car two years ago, corrected, of course, for some simplifications. If the concept did not have central pillars of the body, and the rear doors opened against the move, then the serial station wagon has pillars, and the doors open in the traditional way. Lighting equipment and the design of the front part have become simpler, external door handles and mirrors have appeared. But even in this form, the Buick Velite 6 looks fresh and cool. The length of the car is about 4.6 m, the interior has not yet been shown.

Buick Velite 6 will be available in two versions - a plug-in hybrid and an electric car. To date, only information about the hybrid has been circulated. Its power plant consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, two electric motors, a CVT and lithium-ion batteries. The power of the installation is not reported, but it is known that the gasoline consumption of the station wagon is only 1.4 l / 100 km. The power reserve on a full tank reaches 700 km. Production of Velite 6 will be organized at the GM-SAIC joint venture plant in China.

The Buick Enspire concept car is a prototype of the future serial compact electric crossover of the American brand. He has a "masculine" profile with a deliberately long hood and a cabin related to the rear wheels. Enspire is equipped with two electric motors - one per axle. The power of the rear motor is 220 kW (300 hp), the front motor is 190 kW (258 hp). The lithium-ion battery has an energy density of 210 Wh/kg. The power reserve on a single charge is 600 km, the acceleration time from standstill to 100 km/h takes only 4 seconds. It takes 40 minutes to restore 80% of the battery power.
