Buick's Flagship Concept Named Avenir

Buick

The designers of the Buick brand, owned by General Motors, have developed the brand's flagship sedan called the Avenir. Translated from French, this word means "future".

The car was inspired by historical Buicks, in particular the Riviera, which was the brand's "calling card" from 1963 to 1999. The rear of the car is made in the brand's traditional "boat tail" format, and the front of the sedan, according to the designers, is a rethinking of the appearance of the unusual 1954 Buick Wildcat concept.

The body of the Avenir is 5195 mm long and 1931 mm wide. Under the hood of the car is a new generation V6 engine equipped with direct fuel injection and a cylinder deactivation system. The motor works together with an all-wheel drive mechanism and a nine-speed "automatic". The manufacturer did not publish more detailed characteristics of the power plant of the concept.

The interior of the car is designed for four passengers. Interior decoration is made of leather, silk and bamboo. Inside, Avenir is equipped with an LED interior lighting system, an air ionizer, a wireless device for charging gadgets and an IntelliLink entertainment complex with a 12-inch display.

The rear seats of the sedan are separated by a massive armrest and are equipped with separate screens of the multimedia complex. The car is also equipped with a driver recognition system that is able to activate its personal settings after placing a person behind the wheel.

Note that GM has previously developed spectacular flagship concepts for its other premium brand, Cadillac (Sixteen and Elmiraj). None of these cars made it to the assembly line. Now Cadillac is preparing the premiere of a full-size executive sedan, but its appearance will not have anything in common with the mentioned prototypes.
