BMW

On June 1, the compact crossover BMW X1 of the new, third generation (code - U11) debuted. Recall that in the range of off-road vehicles of the Bavarian brand X1 is the initial model.

The novelty is built on the FAAR platform with front-wheel drive architecture - it debuted in 2019 on the latest generations of the 1 Series and 2 Series families.

The design of the X1 U11 is made in the latest iteration of the BMW corporate identity - the “clean” plastic of the body panels, sharp edges, LED headlights and lights, “nostalgic” lifting-type door handles attract attention.

Overall length, width and height of the new X1 - 4500, 1845 and 1642 mm, respectively, wheelbase - 2692 mm. That is, relative to the crossover of the outgoing generation F48, the length is increased by 53 mm, the width is 24 mm, the height is 44 mm, the wheelbase is 22 mm.

Trunk volume, depending on the modification, varies from 490 to 540 liters, with the rear seats folded down - from 1545 to 1600 liters.

In the cabin, a digital instrument panel (10.25 inches) and a media system screen (10.7 inches) are made in a single unit.

In Germany (and the European Union), the range of the new X1 includes two petrol, two diesel, two hybrid and one purely electric options.

Petrol:

X1 sDrive18i (1.5L, turbo, 136 hp power, 230 Nm of torque),
X1 xDrive23i (2.0L, turbo, 218 hp, 320 Nm).
Diesel:

X1 sDrive18d (2.0L, turbo, 150 HP, 360 Nm),
X1 xDrive23d (2.0L, turbo, 211 hp, 400 Nm).
Hybrid (gasoline-electric):

X1 xDrive25e (1.5L, turbo, + electric motor, total power - 245 hp, torque - 477 Nm),
X1 xDrive25e (1.5L, turbo, + electric motor, 326 hp, 477 Nm).
The purely electric version has its own iX1 index and the xDrive30 designation. It is equipped with two electric motors (one per axle) with a combined output of 230 kW (313 hp) and 494 Nm, and a range of up to 438 km on a single battery charge.

The base gasoline and diesel versions are front-wheel drive, all other cars are with a 4x4 chassis. Petrol and diesel options are combined with a 7-speed preselective robotic gearbox. They also come with a 48-volt starter-alternator, which, however, is not available in the least expensive sDrive18i. The xDrive25e and xDrive25e hybrids have the ability to recharge the battery from an external network and are capable of driving up to 89 km on pure electric traction.

Specifically for the US, BMW will also produce the X1 with a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine producing 241 hp. It won't be offered outside of North America.

Sales of the new BMW X1 in the EU and North America will start in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Recall that the outgoing generation BMW X1 F48 has been produced since 2015.
