Toyota Motor announced new problems with production - due to a shortage of electronic components, the company will suspend production of cars at eight plants in Japan.
Downtime will affect 14 auto assembly lines fr om May 16 to May 21. The longest pause, which covers all six days, is expected at the Toyota Auto Body Yoshiwara Plant, which produces the Land Cruiser 300 frame SUVs and, in small quantities, the Land Cruiser 70.
Shorter shutdowns during this period are expected at the other seven plants. In general, the failure will lead to the underproduction of Toyota and Lexus forty-eight different models, a complete list of them is on the concern's press site.
Another aggravation of the shortage of electronic components arose due to a new outbreak of coronavirus in Shanghai (China), wh ere part of the company's suppliers are located.
Toyota has again lowered its global production plan for May 2022 from 750,000 to 700,000 units.
