Toyota Motor will unscheduledly shut down ten assembly lines at nine car factories in Japan in May.
The main reason is the same as before - the instability of supply chains due to new outbreaks of COVID-19 in China.
Longer than the rest - for six days - the factories of Toyota Motor Kyushu Miyata (produces Lexus NX, CT and UX) and Toyota Auto Body Fujimatsu (Toyota Noah and Voxy) will be idle. The first will not work on May 9, 10, 13, 16, 20 and 23, the second - on May 9-13 and 16.
The rest of the sites will take a break of two to four days.
In total, Toyota plans to produce 750,000 vehicles in May: 200,000 at the company's Japanese plants, 500,000 in other countries.
So far, Toyota has not abandoned plans to produce an average of 800,000 cars a month from May to July.
