Toyota Motor has suspended taking orders for the Land Cruiser 70 frame SUV, which the company has been producing since 1984.
The concern says that this decision is due to two points - firstly, the demand for a car is at its maximum; secondly, Toyota is not able to quickly fulfill even pre-paid orders, as the release of the classic Land Cruiser 70 suffers from a shortage of electronic components in the same way as the production of more modern models of the brand, according to the Australian publication Car Expert. Recall that the Green Continent is one of the main markets for the Land Cruiser 70.
In May, it was reported that in Australia the queue for the "seventies" varies from 3 to 14 months, depending on the modification and configuration.
The range of body versions of the Land Cruiser 70 currently includes a five-door SUV, trucks with one- and two-row cabs, as well as a three-door glass van (Troop Carrier).
The range of engines consists of a 4.0-liter V6 1GR-FE petrol (power - 228 hp, torque - 370 Nm) and a 4.5 V8 turbodiesel 1VD-FTV model (205 hp, 450 Nm). The choice of engines depends on the market. Both motors are combined with a 5-speed manual transmission and part-time all-wheel drive (the front axle is forcibly connected). The transfer case has a reduction gear and a differential lock.
At the end of 2022, the Land Cruiser 70 will undergo another update - due to the tightening of certification requirements for Australia, cars will already have inflatable curtains and knee airbags, optimized front seats and a hood that is safe for pedestrians as standard.
The Land Cruiser 70 is still produced in Portugal (left-hand drive) and Japan (right-hand drive). The main volume of "seventies" of Portuguese production is exported to the Middle East. In Japan, the model is made in small batches, and they are not sold on the domestic market of the Land of the Rising Sun - they are supplied to some external ones.
A month ago, Toyota suspended taking orders for the modern Land Cruiser 300 because it can't handle the shaft on them.
