Toyota's electronic component shortage escalates

Toyota

Toyota Motor reduced its production plan for June 2022 for the second time in a week - the company took this step due to the worsening shortage of electronic components in connection with the local coronavirus lockdown in Shanghai (China), where the parts come from.

The new plan involves the production of all Toyota plants in the world during the first summer month in the amount of 800,000 vehicles. Initially, they expected to produce 950 thousand cars, on May 24 the forecast was reduced to 850 thousand cars, now another 50 thousand cars have been “cut off” from it. Thus, in total, the plan was reduced by 16%. The concern's factories in Japan will be idle until June 6.

Toyota Motor says it is very difficult to predict the situation with components from China now.
