Toyota Motor will assemble 700,000 cars at its car factories around the world in August instead of the originally planned 850,000. In other words, the reduction of the plan is 150,000 vehicles, or 18%.
The reason is the ongoing short supply of electronic components due to local outbreaks of coronavirus in China.
Unscheduled pauses will affect nine car assembly lines at six factories of the concern in Japan and will last from 1 to 18 days, in particular, the production of bZ4X and Solterra electric vehicles, the Mirai hydrogen car, as well as Land Cruiser 300 / Lexus LX frame SUVs will suffer from them.
In January-May, Toyota overfulfilled the production plan for a month only once, in other cases it underfulfilled it. Nevertheless, the company does not abandon its intention to produce a total of 9.7 million vehicles at the end of fiscal year 2022 (the group hopes to catch up in the coming months).
