Toyota can't keep up with demand for the new Tundra

The queues for the delivery of a full-size off-road pickup truck Toyota Tundra of the new (third) generation stretched in the United States to one and a half years. This is written by the local publication CarsDirect with reference to the Longo Toyota dealer network in Southern California.

The new Tundra was presented in September, the first customer cars will reach car dealerships in December. However, even those who ordered a pickup truck “blindly” (far from all dealers still have exhibition samples) will have to be patient.

The longest wait is the Tundra TRD Pro version, which stands out for its styling and technical upgrades like original FOX shocks with additional oil reservoirs, a special front anti-roll bar, underbody protection and more “toothy” tires. Such machines are already reserved with a delivery time of 18 months, that is, they will arrive only in 2023.

For simpler trims, the predicted waiting time is four to nine months. There is no information about the top performance of Tundra Capstone yet.

The Tundra has never been the most popular car in its class: it has always been surpassed by pickup trucks from American brands. However, the rich equipment of the third generation machine can attract more customers than before.

The base version of the Tundra is priced at $35,950, excluding shipping to the dealership. This is $1925 more than the previous model cost.

Recall that the third generation Toyota Tundra received a 3.5-liter gasoline V6 with a double supercharger, power - 389 hp, torque - 649 Nm. The more expensive option is equipped with the i-Force hybrid system, in which the internal combustion engine is assisted by an electric motor, the total power of the installation is 437 hp, the torque is 790 Nm. Both engines are combined with a 10-speed hydromechanical "automatic". The drive of the car is either rear or full. The car will be offered in two body versions - Double Cab and Crew Cab. Both double-row, five-seater, differ in the length of the second row of the cab (Double Cab is more compact).

Production of the new generation Toyota Tundra is carried out at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas (TMMTX) plant located in Texas (USA).
