In its next incarnation, the Crown will be completely reformatted - instead of the classic business class sedan, this name will be given to the “sedan with crossover motifs”. Patent photos revealing its appearance were released to the public at the end of last month.

The sixteenth Crown was assigned the factory code S235, it is based on the TNGA-L platform, which is also used for the current generation Crown S220. It is expected that the new Crown will be equipped with a hybrid system, composed of a 2.4-liter gasoline turbo engine and an electric motor.

The new Toyota Crown will be a global model and will be exported to the US, where it will sit at the top of the brand's crossover lineup.

According to preliminary information, the overall length, width and height of the new Crown are 4930, 1840 and 1540 mm, respectively, the wheelbase is 2850 mm.

The current Crown S220 has been in production since 2018. It is built on a rear-wheel drive version of the TNGA modular platform. The sedan is available with a 2.0-liter 8AR-FTS turbo engine (245 hp), as well as in two hybrid versions: with an installation based on a 2.5-liter aspirated A25A-FXS (226 hp, taking into account the return of the electric motor ) and a 3.5-liter V6 8GR-FXS (359 hp, taking into account the return of the electric motor).
