Toyota Motor on November 9 held a presentation of its first mass-produced electric car bZ4X. An online press release was released at the end of October, now the company has shown the crossover to the public “live”.
The Toyota bZ4X is based on the new e-TNGA platform, developed jointly with Subaru for electric vehicles with front, rear or all-wheel drive. The total length of the body is 4690 mm, width - 1860 mm, height - 1650 mm. The bZ4X is almost the same size as the RAV4, but the electric car has a noticeably larger wheelbase - 2850 mm versus 2690 mm. Thanks to this, the novelty provides a reserve of space for second-row passengers at the level of D-class sedans.
bZ4X will be produced in two versions: with one and two electric motors. The front-wheel drive version has one 204 hp engine, and the all-wheel drive version has two 109 hp engines. (total 218 hp). Acceleration time 0-100 km / h is 8.4 and 7.7 seconds, respectively. The mass differs insignificantly: 1920 and 2005 kg.
Regardless of the number of engines, a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 71.4 kWh is used, covered with a steel sheet from below. The power reserve is 500 km for the front-wheel drive version and 460 km for the all-wheel drive version (WLTC test cycle). Supports fast charging up to 150 kW (up to 80% in 30 minutes). From the factory, the electric car can be equipped with wheels with a diameter of up to 20 inches.
For the novelty, two types of steering wheel are offered: regular and in the form of a steering wheel. The second is called One motion grip: since such a “steering wheel” rotates only 150 degrees in each direction, you can drive a car without changing your grip. A rotating washer and a separate park button are used as the transmission mode selector.
Toyota has not yet announced a sales start date or pricing for the bZ4X.
