Subaru introduced a modernized version of the Legacy sedan - the changes affected both the exterior and the technical side of the model.
The design of the front part of the body was completely different, and it was redone with little bloodshed - without touching the stamped steel elements. LED headlights of a new configuration, an enlarged hexagonal radiator grille, and a complex bumper were used. The grille is cut horizontally by a decorative glossy crossbar, “sticking” with its ends into the lighting equipment. Thus, the updated Legacy is given a "nerve" in the exterior, which the previous model car clearly lacked. Please note that when re-issuing the front, the designers did not bother with the placement of the license plate. Subaru's main market is the US, where half the states don't require a front number. For other cases, a platform for the GRP is “arranged” at the bottom of the bumper.
There were also light-alloy wheels of a new design. The rear of the body remained the same.
So far, the novelty has been shown only in the North American specification. The Legacy Sport version offered on this continent has lost the 2.5-liter boxer "aspirated" with a capacity of 182 hp. - he was replaced by a 2.4-liter turbo unit with a return of 260 hp. It was available before the restyling, but only in the top versions of the Limited XT and Touring XT - thus, we are talking about expanding the use of the motor. At the same time, other Legacy versions are equipped with the same 182-horsepower unit. The drive of the car in all cases is a permanent full, a stepless variator is used in the transmission.
About innovations in the cabin. In expensive trim levels, the steering wheel rim is now heated all around, in the top trim it is sheathed in nappa leather with silver stitching. Versions with a large 11.6-inch multimedia display as standard received the function of synchronization with a smartphone via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The top-of-the-line sedan has improved the EyeSight semi-autopilot system - it now uses a wide-angle mono camera, with which the system scans a large area of the road and more effectively recognizes obstacles in the form of pedestrians and cyclists. The control of "blind" zones and movement along the lane is supplemented by the function of automatic emergency steering adjustment.
Recall that the cross-platform with Legacy Outback wagon survived restyling in mid-April 2022.
Legacy of the current generation of BW has been released since 2019. As part of the general trend, the sedan is losing popularity - in the United States, by the end of 2021, its sales decreased by 10% at once.
