Skoda introduced the long-awaited Enyaq iV electric crossover

Skoda

Skoda teased us for a long time with teasers of its Enyaq iV electric crossover: it will show one side, then the other. Finally, a new product has been introduced.

Skoda Auto Chairman Thomas Schäfer describes the Enyaq iV as “the start of a new era for Skoda.” The electric car has an "emotional, powerful and dynamic" appearance. With a length of 4648 mm and a width of 1877 mm, it is slightly more compact than the Kodiaq, but at the same time, due to the optimized layout inside, it is not inferior to it.

Enyaq (the name comes from the Irish female name Enya, which means “source of life”) is built on the MEB modular platform that underlies all new Volkswagen electric vehicles.

The electric car is made in the recognizable style of the Czech company, however, in comparison with the same Kodiak, the proportions of the body are more “minivan” here - a short hood and a large “cabin”. But the drag coefficient is only 0.27. This is a great indicator for a crossover.

The front panel is dominated by a central 13-inch touch screen with support for gestures, voice commands and e-SIM. But the size of the screen that replaced the dashboard is ridiculous by modern standards - only 5.3 inches. But there is a projection display (albeit also of a modest size).

Enyaq iV will be released in several versions. The most affordable will be the Enyaq 50 iV with a 148-horsepower electric motor and a 55 kWh battery (the power reserve will be 340 km on the WLTP cycle). Calling such a crossover dynamic will not work, because it takes 11.7 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km / h. In the Enyaq 60 iV, power increases to 179 hp, capacity - up to 62 kWh (power reserve - up to 390 km). Here the sprint time to the first “hundred” is already 8.7 seconds. Another step up is the Enyaq 80 iV: 204 hp, 82 kWh, 510 km and 8.5 seconds. All of these versions are rear-wheel drive.

Among the all-wheel drive, the most affordable will be the Enyaq 80x iV with two motors, the total output of which is 265 hp. and 425 Nm. The 82 kWh battery allows you to drive 460 km. At the top of the lineup is the Enyaq RS iV. Taking into account the increased to 306 hp. power, it shoots up to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. The capacity and range are the same as the Enyaq 80x iV. At the same time, for all versions, the “maximum speed” is limited to 160 km / h (only RS is able to accelerate to 180 km / h).

The Czech-German electric car supports charging from stations with a capacity of up to 125 kW, which will allow you to replenish your energy supply from 10 to 80% in 38 minutes. True, this possibility is offered only as an option, and charging up to 50 kW is available in the “base”.

The most affordable Enyaq iV will cost from €40,400
