Skoda Auto has released the anniversary, seven millionth copy of the Octavia model. The iconic car was manufactured at the company's main plant in Mlada Boleslav (Czech Republic).
The achieved number reflects Octavia of all generations. The first generation of the model appeared in January 1959, the fourth is now being produced.
The car received the Octavia name due to the fact that it became the eighth Skoda with independent suspension, as well as the eighth in the post-war years. The name was taken from the Latin word octo, which means "eight". The first generation model was produced in two-door sedan and three-door station wagon body styles and ended in 1971.
In 1996, the revived Octavia became the first model of the brand produced under the "wing" of the Volkswagen Group.
“Skoda Octavia is the heart of our brand. This car has been consistently popular since the mid-90s. He made a huge contribution to the transformation of Skoda from a regional market leader into a rapidly growing international company with impressive production volumes. The launch of the jubilee car at the Mladá Boleslav plant was an exceptionally important event for us - this achievement testifies to the excellent work of our colleagues from the production and logistics department,” said Michael Oeljeklaus, Member of the Board of Directors of Skoda Auto.
On November 11, 2019, Skoda introduced the fourth generation of the model; on November 29, it was already on the conveyor.
