Mitsubishi Outlander is a rather old model: the current version made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012. Now the Japanese company has finally announced the debut date of the next generation.
At the very beginning of 2020, the head of Mitsubishi Motors Europe, Bernard Loire, confirmed the release of the new Outlander this year. But the well-known crisis mixed up the cards of manufacturers. What can we say about Mitsubishi Motors, which is already in a precarious position.
As a result, now the American office of the automaker says that the next Outlander will be released in early 2021, and will reach dealers in the second quarter.
While the brand does not reveal all the details. Mitsubishi says the Outlander will be their "quietest and most equipped" car ever sold in the US. The design of the crossover will be made in the company's new style, which promises to be "bold, aggressive and distinctive." It is expected that the novelty will be made in the spirit of the 2019 Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer concept.
The model is “loaded with technology” and will boast “significantly improved interior trim.”
It is assumed that the next Mitsubishi Outlander will be built on the same platform as the Nissan X-Trail, which debuted in June. We recall that it was created on an upgraded version of CMF-C. Engines are also likely to be supplied by Nissan.
But Mitsubishi will be able to focus on the development of an even more advanced Outlander PHEV hybrid, which has gained popularity in some markets, including Europe.
