Mitsubishi Motors reveals second-generation ASX specs

Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Motors (MMC) is preparing to introduce the next (second) generation ASX compact crossover. In anticipation of the imminent premiere of the car, the company revealed some of its technical characteristics.

The new ASX will be the first to receive the European Union market, it is assumed that for the Old World in the basic configuration the model will be equipped with a 1.0-liter TCe petrol turbo engine with a capacity of 91 hp. It will be offered in combination with a 6-speed manual gearbox only. A 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine with a return of 158 hp will rise a step higher, it is combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a preselective 7-speed robot. A 145-horsepower hybrid version is also expected with a 1.6-liter gasoline aspirated engine, an electric motor and a 10.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. Diesel versions are not planned.

The new Mitsubishi ASX is being created on the platform of the second-generation European Renault Captur, which has been produced since 2019. Aggregates will be taken from him (although the ASX hybrid system is simpler). Recall that MMC is part of an alliance with Renault and Nissan. For the EU, the new ASX will be produced at the Renault plant in Spain (Captur is also made there).

The presentation of the model is expected in autumn 2022.

The current ASX has been produced since 2010, it has been upgraded four times in 12 years, the last one was 3 years ago.
