Mitsubishi Motors (MMC) has announced that it will resume domestic sales of the Minicab MiEV electric kei van from November 24th.
The first production life of the Minicab MiEV took place from 2011 to 2021. For more than a year, the model was not released, and its stock was sold only to corporate clients.
Now, Minicab MiEV has returned to the conveyor and will be available to everyone again from November.
Oddly enough, with the reissue, the electric car has not changed technically.
The machine is equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 30 kW (41 hp), it is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 16 kWh, the range on one full charge reaches 133 km, the drive is rear-wheel drive. MMC says that range is sufficient, as 77% of subcompact light commercial van drivers in Japan drive no more than 65km a day (vehicles use mostly delivery services, and they operate over short distances).
However, minor improvements were made to the design of the car. So, the ASC active stability control system has been added, more opportunities have appeared for transforming the cargo-passenger compartment (its internal length, width and height are 600 x 450 x 600 mm, respectively), side mirrors have been changed.
MMC says that Minicab MiEV was ahead of its time, so only 9304 copies were sold from 2011 to 2020. With the return, he is predicted to have a brighter future - the monthly sales volume should be at least 400 units, that is, 4800 per year.
The two-seater electric van will cost 2,431,000 yen, while the four-seater will cost 2,453,000 yen.
