Produced for developing countries, the Mitsubishi Xpander compact MPV in the standard version was restyled in November 2021, but now the turn has come to the all-terrain Cross modification. The presentation of the upgraded Xpander Cross took place at the international motor show in Jakarta (Indonesia), it opened its doors on August 11.
Like the original car of the family, the all-terrain Xpander received LED headlights and lanterns of a new design, as well as other bumpers (Cross has original ones with a more massive shaping). The body kit made of black embossed plastic at the cross-van has also been replaced - characteristic “notches” have been removed in the upper parts of the wheel arch extensions. The moldings at the bottom of the doors have become silver-steel - so their appearance rhymes with the imitation of underbody protection in bumpers.
The 17-inch alloy wheels are given a new style and are two-tone (dark gray on the inside, brushed on the outside).
In the cabin, the three-spoke steering wheel was replaced with a larger diameter four-spoke steering wheel and an improved media system with an eight-inch display was introduced.
In terms of technology, the main innovation is this - the Xpander Cross is now equipped with the AYC (Active Yaw Control) system, which regulates the braking force of the left and right sides to improve cornering. Steering angle, lateral acceleration, brake pressure, wheel speed and other data are taken into account. AYC, in particular, prevents understeer on slippery surfaces.
With the modernization of the Expander Cross, the front suspension struts were also strengthened and the cylinder size of the rear shock absorbers was increased. The ground clearance of the car is 225 mm.
The engine and transmission remained the same - the Xpander Cross is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline Mitsubishi 4A91 with a capacity of 109 hp. It is combined with a 5-speed "mechanics" or a 4-band "automatic". Drive - only front, 4x4 transmission is not provided in principle.
The car accommodates seven people, the layout is three-row according to the 2 + 3 + 2 scheme, and the seats of the second and third rows are folded in the proportion of 60:40 and 50:50, respectively.
Recall that Xpander has been produced since 2017. This model is simultaneously produced in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, sold in Southeast Asia, Latin America, South Asia, Africa and the Middle East. As of the end of 2021, a total of 470,000 of these machines have been sold worldwide. The key to the success of the car is the low price - in Indonesia, the standard version of the van is offered from 253.4 million local rupees
