Mini has unveiled the Superleggera Vision concept roadster, developed with the participation of the Italian bodybuilder Touring Superleggera. The world premiere of the car took place at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este exhibition, which opened in Italy on May 23.
The creators of the car claim that the design of the Mini Superleggera Vision combines the features of classic British roadsters and Italian sports cars. The technical component of the concept has not yet been reported.
It is expected that the prototype built in a single copy is a harbinger of the production model. The new roadster will become the flagship in the Mini line and will be similar in concept to the Mazda MX-5.
According to the British edition of Autocar, the production version of the concept will be built using one of the existing platforms of the BMW concern, which owns the Mini brand. Under the hood of the car may be a line consisting of three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, as well as an electric power plant borrowed from the BMW i3 model.
