The MINI brand has officially unveiled the new generation of the Cooper hatchback. The model became larger and acquired turbocharged engines, most of which are with three cylinders.
The new generation of the cult model is presented in three basic versions: the MINI Cooper itself, the MINI Cooper D diesel version and the MINI Cooper S boosted version. The base engine will be a new 3-cylinder petrol engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo technology valves and valve timing). The volume of this motor is 1499 cm3, the output power is 136 hp, the maximum torque is 220 Nm. With this engine, the MINI Cooper accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8-7.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h. The average consumption is 4.5-4.8 liters per 100 km.
The MINI Cooper D is also equipped with a 3-cylinder diesel engine with TwinPower Turbo technology (variable geometry turbocharger, 2000 bar common rail direct injection). The working volume of this engine is 1496 cm3, the power is 116 hp, the torque is 270 Nm. The diesel MINI accelerates from 0 to 100 km in 9.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 205 km/h and consuming 3.5-3.8 liters of fuel per 100 km.
The forced version of the MINI Cooper S is the only one equipped with a 4-cylinder engine. With a volume of 1998 cm3, this engine (also equipped with the TwinPower Turbo system, which includes turbocharging, direct injection and continuously variable valve travel and valve timing) develops a power of 192 hp, which provides the car with acceleration to “hundreds” in 6.7-6, 8 seconds and a top speed of 235 km / h with a fuel consumption of 5.2-5.8 liters.
The gearboxes have also been updated. In particular, the 6-speed "mechanics" has the function of automatic "re-gassing" when switching "down". The new sports automatic transmission (also with 6 speeds) has the same function. It is this box, which is also distinguished by an accelerated gear change, will be aggregated with a 4-cylinder engine. But 3-cylinder units will be content with a 6-speed automatic transmission with a standard operation algorithm.
