The MINI brand will debut the Paceman, a Sports Activity Coupe, early next year. According to the developer, the car will be the first sports cross-coupe in the compact premium segment.
Under the hood of the car is a 1.6-liter John Cooper Works engine equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger system. This 4-cylinder, 16-valve powertrain develops 214 hp. power and 260 Nm of torque. Moreover, the latter can be increased to 280 Nm using the "Overboost" function.
The Paceman concept inherited the MINI ALL4 permanent all-wheel drive system from the Countryman. The machine is equipped with an electromagnetic center differential, which in normal conditions distributes torque in a ratio of 50:50, but in extreme conditions can give all the traction to the rear axle.
The debut of the car will take place at the Detroit Auto Show.
