Mini Countryman Gets Even Brighter, Better Engines (But Lost Manual)

Mini

The company has been releasing the compact crossover Mini Countryman of the second generation since 2017, and today the premiere of its restyled version took place.

From the point of view of the exterior, the updated Countryman differs from its predecessor in the front with a chrome grille (it was glossy in the pre-styling Countryman), a front bumper with vertical air intakes and modified head optics (with square rather than round lenses). At the rear, the crossover has got a new bumper and different graphics of the lights, in which you can now see the lines of the UK flag. Piano Black and new R19 rims complete this extravaganza of style. Modifications S and SE, on the contrary, have lost chrome on the grille.

The interior has a new digital instrument cluster. There are black glossy inserts on the front panel and door cards. The interior will be offered in two new colors: Indigo Blue (light blue) and Chester Malt Brown (brown). The standard multimedia system has a 6.5-inch screen, an 8.8-inch system is available for an extra charge.

Important changes have taken place under the hood. Petrol engines received an updated injection system with even higher fuel pressure (350 bar instead of 200 for its predecessors). Turbodiesels are now equipped with new particulate filters, thanks to which they now comply with Euro 6d environmental standards. The 3-cylinder turbocharged unit with a capacity of 134 hp remained the base one, followed by a 176-hp 2.0-liter engine (the predecessor had 189 hp). At the top of the lineup sits the 217-horsepower, plug-in Hybrid ALL4. It now has a more efficient 9.6kWh battery (up from 7.6kWh on its predecessor) that has boosted its all-electric range from 40 to 55 kilometers. The 2.0-liter turbodiesel has got new injectors that inject fuel at a pressure of 2500 bar. Its power is 148 hp. Front-wheel drive modifications are equipped with a two-wheel drive 7-speed "robot", all-wheel drive versions received an 8-speed "automatic". The rechargeable modification is equipped with a 6-speed "automatic". A manual transmission for the model is no longer offered.

In Europe, the upgraded Countryman is already on sale.
