A huge line of potential customers lined up for the new Mini electric car

Mini

The British brand Mini (controlled by the BMW Group) in July 2019 introduced the serial electric hatchback Cooper SE. Commodity production of the car started in November. Apparently, the model turned out to be very attractive: the brand fixes a high demand for it.

So, the brand welcomes 2020 with 90,000 applications for the purchase of Cooper SE, which is twice as many as in August 2019. Receiving orders for a novelty, we recall, began in July of the same year, in the basic configuration in his native Britain, the car is valued at 24,400 pounds. In the US, the car has been on sale since the end of October, starting at $29,900.

The Mini Cooper SE is equipped with a 32.6 kWh battery that powers a 184-horsepower BMW i3s electric motor. Acceleration to 100 km / h takes the hatchback 7.3 seconds, the maximum speed is limited to 150 km / h. The US EPA cycle range is expected by Mini to be around 177 km. According to the outdated European WLTP cycle, the car will be able to drive about 200-232 kilometers.

Because of the battery, albeit not the largest on the market, the Cooper SE turned out to be 145 kg heavier than the petrol Mini Cooper S. However, the new electric train has its advantages. Due to the battery installed under the floor, its center of gravity turned out to be 30 mm lower, which has a positive effect on handling.

By the way, Cooper SE was previously able to tow a 150-ton Boeing 777F.

Shipment of the Mini Cooper SE to the first buyers is scheduled for March 2020.
