Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz Group AG continues to strengthen its presence in China - on March 18, the company announced that it opened its second scientific and technical center in this country, it is located in Shanghai, writes Reuters.

The Shanghai R&D Center will be primarily engaged in developments in the field of autopilot systems, connected services and Big Data (technologies for collecting and analyzing data arrays, as well as the effective use of the information received).

The company emphasizes that it plans to recruit "hundreds of young technical talent" to work at the center.

In 2021, Mercedes-Benz expanded its R&D center in Beijing, more than tripling the staff to 1,000 engineers. It became the first such large Mercedes-Benz development center outside of Germany.
