Mercedes-Benz CLS has changed outside and in the cabin

The third-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS C257 four-door coupe has been in production since 2018. In the fourth year of production, the German company introduced its updated version. The car was slightly changed exterior and interior.

From now on, the coupe-sedan is equipped with the AMG Line styling package in the base. It includes the original front bumper with a silver splitter, side skirts, a small spoiler on the trunk lid. Another was the design of 19- and 20-inch rims.

To talk about the differences from the pre-styling version, in addition to the bumpers, you can also notice curious metamorphoses with the front grille: if earlier its pattern was made up of simple dots, now it is made of small three-pointed stars. It's time to say that CLS meets not with two branded logos in front, but with two hundred.

Internal changes are minor. They include a new steering wheel that incorporates capacitive sensors (detect whether the driver is holding onto the steering wheel or not). Such a system is required for a complex of semi-autonomous movement, it is obliged to check whether the driver is distracted from the road when it is activated.

There are also less noticeable changes in the interior: the round mechanical clock, previously installed in the center of the front panel, has disappeared, the shape of the “automatic” selector has been changed, and new finishes have been added.

The CLS engine range in Europe includes petrol versions of the CLS 350 (2.0 l, 299 hp and 400 Nm), CLS 450 4Matic (3.0 l, 367 hp and 500 Nm) and CLS 53 4Matic+ (3, 0 l, 435 hp and 520 Nm). On the diesel side - CLS 220 d (1.9 l, 194 hp and 400 Nm), CLS 300 d 4Matic (2.0 l, 265 hp and 550 Nm) and CLS 400 d 4Matic (3, 0 l, 330 hp and 700 Nm). The CLS 450 4Matic, CLS 53 4Matic+ and CLS 300 d 4Matic models are equipped with a 48-volt integrated starter-alternator that adds 20 hp.

European sales of the updated CLS will start in the summer.
