In Germany, Mercedes exceeded the speed limit by more than three times

Mercedes-Benz

As of the end of 2020, there are still no speed limits on German autobahns (although the discussion about their need has been going on for many years). At the same time, limits are still introduced temporarily and in some places - in particular, for the period of repair of the canvas. For example, due to roadworks in West Hesse, drivers have to plod along at a speed of 80 km/h on nearby highways. But the owner of the Mercedes-Benz was not embarrassed by road signs, and he raced past the automatic camera at 244 km / h.

The motorist more than tripled the speed limit. Apparently, his car - presumably a Mercedes-AMG E53 - allows this. The sedan is equipped with a 3.0 in-line six-cylinder turbo engine (435 hp and 520 Nm) and a 48-volt starter-generator (22 hp and 250 Nm). Acceleration fr om 0 to 100 km / h takes him only 4.5 seconds, and the electronic “maximum speed” lim it of 250 km / h can be removed if desired.

As the Headquarters of Police in West Hesse writes on Facebook, a driver who has committed a rash act is now unlikely to get off with just a large fine for speeding. They want to charge him with participation in illegal street races (although he was driving fast alone).

As a result, the "racer" can not only be left without a license, but also sent to jail.
