McLaren will train buyers of the 1000-horsepower P1 GTR supercar on the track

The premiere of the track version of the McLaren P1 supercar called P1 GTR will take place in Geneva. The car will be shown at a press conference on March 3. The Geneva P1 GTR is painted in the same colors as the F1 GTR 06R racing car that finished third at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995.

The power plant of the car consists of an 800-horsepower 3.8-liter V8 with two turbochargers and a 200-horsepower electric motor. The total output of the complex is 1000 hp.

P1 GTR is designed according to all the canons of motor sport. Engineers managed to reduce the weight of the track supercar by 50 kg compared to the 1490 kg base version of the P1 thanks to the extensive use of polycarbonate (glass is made of it), carbon fiber (engine compartment and roof panels, formerly made of glass) and chromium-nickel and titanium alloys (exhaust system).

The track supercar received a track extended by 80 mm and became lower than the “civilian version” by about 50 mm. The massive rear wing rises 400 mm above the body. The angle of attack can be adjusted as desired by the pilot up to 32 degrees.

These solutions, as well as aerodynamic flaps in front of the front wheels, made it possible to increase downforce by 10% - up to 660 kg at 240 km/h. The car is equipped with rims with a central mount and racing slicks.

Buy a car worth about 2.7 million euros will only be able to wealthy people from among the 375 current owners of "civilian" McLaren P1. For all future owners of the track modification, training is provided, which will begin with a test run along the Silverstone circuit and continue at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit. P1 GTR owners will also be trained at the McLaren Technology Center.
