Premium crossover Mazda CX-60 on a rear-wheel drive platform

Mazda

Live photos of the new Mazda CX-60 mid-size crossover have been posted on the Web - not staged and made by real people. New pictures allow you to put together a more complete picture of the appearance of the car. Recall that the Mazda CX-60 was shown on March 8, but since then only advertising photos of the novelty have been available - staged and prepared by professionals.

The CX-60 is the first Mazda model to feature the new Skyactiv Multi Solution Scalable Architecture (SMSSA) platform with a longitudinal powertrain and rear-wheel drive. All other modern Mazdas, with the exception of the MX-5 roadster, have a transversely mounted engine and a leading “front end” (all-wheel drive, if available, is implemented using a clutch).

Compared to other Mazda crossovers, the CX-60 stands out due to its sporty profile - with a long hood, a short front overhang and a "cab" shifted back. A large distance between the front wheel hub and the front door is a typical feature of cars with a classic layout of units.

The overall length, width and height of the CX-60 are 4745, 1890 and 1670 mm respectively, the wheelbase is 2870 mm.

In the cabin, attention is drawn to the massive architecture of the front panel, careful detailing of the decor and expensive finishing materials: nappa leather and natural wood veneer. The Prime-Line comes standard with a 12.3-inch infotainment display with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as dual-zone automatic climate control. LED headlights are also part of the basic equipment.

A crossover in the e-Skyactiv PHEV version was brought to the presentation. This is a rechargeable hybrid, which includes a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine, an electric motor, an 8-speed automatic transmission and a traction lithium-ion battery. ICE power and torque - 189 hp and 261 Nm, respectively, the electric motor - 136 hp. and 250 Nm, combined indicators - 327 hp. and 500 Nm. The capacity of the battery pack is 17.8 kWh. The car is able to drive up to 63 km on pure electric traction, without starting the internal combustion engine.

Gasoline and diesel options will follow later. The first will have a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine of the Skyactiv-X family, the second will have a 3.3-liter Skyactiv-D. In both cases, in addition to the internal combustion engine, a 48-volt starter-alternator will be used, which helps to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

The main markets for the Mazda CX-60 will be Europe and Japan. In North America, Mazda will release the CX-70 crossover as well as the larger three-row CX-90.

Mazda CX-60 prices start at €47,000 in Europe
