Mazda Motor will temporarily shut down two of its car factories in Japan. They will go into idle mode for two days: April 14 and 15. The reason is interruptions in the supply of components. This was reported in a company statement dated April 12.
Mazda's factories in Hiroshima and Yamaguchi prefectures will go into unplanned downtime. Mazda3, Mazda6 passenger cars, CX-30, CX-5, CX-8, CX-9 crossovers and MX-5 roadsters are produced at the Hiroshima site. Yamaguchi assembles Mazda2, Mazda3 cars, as well as CX-3 and CX-5 crossovers.
The problem lies in the increase in the number of COVID-19 diseases in China, which is why suppliers are forced to interrupt their activities (on April 11, another anti-record for new cases was recorded in the country - 27,595 people).
The last time Mazda sent its factories in Japan to a standstill was in early April.
