Mazda Motor will temporarily shut down two of its plants in Japan. They will go into idle mode for two days in April, the reason is interruptions in the supply of components. This is stated in a company statement dated March 24.
The problem lies in the rise in the number of cases of COVID-19 in China, due to which suppliers are forced to interrupt their activities.
Due to a shortage of parts, factories in Hiroshima and Yamaguchi prefectures will not operate on April 4 and 5. The company did not specify how much the production plan would fall because of this.
Recall that the Hiroshima plant produces Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-30, CX-5, CX-8, CX-9 and MX-5 models. Mazda2, Mazda3, CX-3 and CX-5 are assembled in Yamaguchi.
