Mazda introduced the CX-60 for the domestic Japanese market

Mazda

In early March, the mid-size premium crossover Mazda CX-60 debuted in the European, or rather, the global version. A month later, Mazda Motor introduced a new specification for the domestic Japanese market - right-hand drive.

If the left-hand drive version was shown only in a modification with a “rechargeable hybrid” (PHEV) power plant, composed of a 2.5-liter gasoline engine, an electric motor, an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a traction lithium-ion battery, then the crossover for the Japanese was immediately demonstrated and in diesel configuration, with a 3.3-liter turbo engine.

Recall that the fundamental difference between the CX-60 and other Mazda crossovers is the layout - it is not front-wheel drive, but classic: with a longitudinal engine and rear-wheel drive. Therefore, the CX-60 has expressive body proportions with a long hood and a cabin shifted to the rear axle.

The diesel version of the model has a 6-cylinder in-line Skyactiv-D turbo engine with a displacement of 3283 cc. cm, its power is 254 hp, torque is 550 Nm. The compression ratio is 15.2:1, the pistons have a complex cross-sectional shape, which provides improved fuel combustion. During acceleration, the diesel engine is assisted by a starter-generator with a capacity of 17 hp. and a torque of 153 Nm, a mild hybrid system. It is aggregated with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive, the distribution of torque between the axles is automatic: up to 50% of traction can be transferred to the front wheels. The curb weight of the diesel CX-60 is 1900 kg, the maximum speed is 220 km/h, the acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes only 7.3 seconds, the tank volume is 58 liters, and the tire size is 235/50 R20. The automatic transmission of the CX-60 does not have a torque converter, switching is carried out through a wet multi-plate clutch mechanism.

The CX-60 plug-in hybrid for the Japanese is no different from that for the Europeans. The system includes a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, an electric motor, an 8-speed automatic transmission and a traction lithium-ion battery. ICE power and torque - 191 hp and 261 Nm, respectively, the electric motor - 136 hp. and 250 Nm, combined indicators - 327 hp. and 500 Nm. The capacity of the battery pack is 17.8 kWh. The curb weight is 2050 kg, the maximum speed is 200 km/h, acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h takes 5.8 seconds. The average consumption of gasoline of this version is only 1.58 l / 100 km.

The overall length, width and height of the Mazda CX-60 are 4742 mm, 1890 mm and 1691 mm, the wheelbase is 2870 mm. The track of the front and rear wheels is 1637 mm each.

Sales of the Mazda CX-60 will start in Japan in early autumn 2022.
