Mazda CX-30 Gets Small Power Gain, Safety Update

Mazda

Mazda has updated the range of the CX-30 crossover in the Japanese market. The car received slightly more powerful engines and improved security systems.

Much attention has been paid to the Skyactiv-X version. She has an unusual 2.0-liter gasoline engine. The compression ratio of the engine reaches an impressive ratio of 15:1. At idle, the Skyactiv-X ignites the gasoline on its own due to compression, while conventional spark plugs only fire when under load.

As part of the update, the engine power was increased from 180 to 190 hp, thrust from 224 to 240 Nm. It is assisted by a 6.5 hp AC synchronous motor. (4.8 kW) and 24 V lithium-ion battery.

In November, a similar update went to Mazda 3. To focus consumers' attention on the fact that the modification is a "mild" hybrid, the company began using the designation e-Skyactiv-X.

The Skyactiv-D version has also changed slightly. The 1.8-liter diesel engine now develops 130 hp. instead of 116 hp Plus, the maximum thrust of 270 Nm has become available in a larger rev range.

The Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS) safety system has had its maximum operating speed increased to 55 km/h. CTS helps the driver to relax a little in traffic jams: it automatically follows the vehicle in front and stays in the selected lane.

In Japan, prices for the upgraded Mazda CX-30 start at 2,392,500 yen for a car with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Skyactiv-D can be purchased for a minimum of 2,887,500 yen. For e-Skyactiv-X, buyers will have to pay from 3,294,500 yen.
